One of the most common reasons to go to college is to further one’s employment opportunities, but the benefits do not stop there. Among these schools include the Eastern Iowa Community College.
Eastern Iowa Community College, also known as EICC, is a community college located along the Mississippi River in the state of Iowa. There are a total of three schools that are part of the EICC district. These schools include Clinton Community College, Scott Community College, and Muscatine Community College. EICCD was established in 1965 by the Iowa General Assembly as one of 15 community college merged areas.
In addition to these main campuses, EICCD also offers classes through five technology centers. These centers are The Blong Technology Center or BTC and the Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training or the MCSRT. Both of these centers are found near Interstate 80 in Davenport. The MCSRT offers training for fire training and rescue, with specialization in water rescue, while the BTC specializes in manufacturing and technology programs.
There is also the Advanced Technology Environmental Education Center or ATEEC is located on the Scott Community College campus. The ATEEC is a national center that supports environmental technology education in relation to the needs of the workforce. The Muscatine Industrial Technology Center on the Muscatine Community College campus provides specialized manufacturing based training while the Graphic Arts Technology Center in Clinton offers programs in web design, graphic arts, and computer-aided design.
EICC’s three schools offer career technology programs and college programs. Close to 8,000 students are enrolled in these colleges each term. The colleges also offer an online associate’s program in cooperation with the Iowa Community College Online Consortium. Because EICC is a comprehensive community college, its programs go beyond the traditional college curriculum. The college offers a variety of worker training and retraining programs through the Business and Industry Center. These classes are available on a credit and non-credit basis.
